Cabrera is located on the northeast coast of the country, three and a half hours from Santo Domingo (by bus), the capital city of the Dominican Republic, east of Puerto Plata and west of Samaná, just 38 kilometers from the municipality of Nagua, head of the María Trinidad Sánchez province. It borders to the west with the municipality of Río San Juan, to the south with Nagua to the north and to the east it has the Atlantic Ocean. The territorial extension of this geographical demarcation is 276 km2.
